Back at it with my silly Arcane/LoL Stuff !!

I’ve never actually see Alita Battle Angel, but I saw some models/Dolls people made with the porcelain body version of Alita and got struck with an Idea.

LoL Viktor, before they fully replaced him with The Arcane Machine Herald (for whatever reason?), but a mix between him and the porcelain vessels Arcane Viktor makes and controls in S2!!

Honestly think it’d be really neat to see a mix between them, because I think it’d make for a neat way to combine the two designs and concepts together! And so far I personally have not come across any art of this and would love to see everyone’s interpretations of it because this community’s art is literally always so beautifully done!

I myself may end up drawing up something, if I do I’ll be sure to post it of course :]!

I tend to over analyse too much but aren't those two scenes a parallel ?

1/ Mel's position

In both frames Mel is positioned to the left of her interlocutors (Ambessa and Jayce). In both pictures, she's the vulnerable one, she's barely listened to and her words have "no weight" (but the contexts are important!)

2/ Context

In the first situation, Mel advocates for the mercy of the young heir of a conquered nation (I guess)

As a result, Ambessa banished Mel because of her softness. Her mother needed her to be far away from her so she could accomplish her bigger missions. She literally said that she couldn't look at her in her eyes because Mel weakens her resolve to do what's necessary for her family (i.e conquering lands through wars but also protecting her family, and more precisely protecting Mel from the Black rose).

In the second situation, she explains to Jayce that her whole life had been a lie and she can't control it because of her family and powers.

Jayce listens and coldly leaves Mel to fulfill his greater mission : saving the world from his "misdeeds". He gives her a dull but meaningful pep talk. And, he, too as a hard time looking at her in the eyes. Jayce knows Mel and he knows that she needs to feel approved and validated, he genuinely loves her and believes in her strenght and intelligence. I think that's why, besides her revelation, he specifically chose those last words to encourage her (i.e "You are not a passenger").

I don't know if I am reaching but it seems like in a teeny tiny moment, they want to hug but both refrain from it. Almost as if they are restraining themselves to have physical contact. Mel has to cross her hands. Their posture is unnatural and awkward, the perfect opposite of how they usually behave around each other.

Jayce usually let himself be soft and vulnerable with Mel, she's his confidant, but this time he couldn't afford to do that for the greater good. There is a deep sorrow in his eyes when he manages to look at her (is he also ashamed because he weaponized hextech when she fought not to ?). He knows he couldn't count on her help and comfort this time. He couldn't cave in and melt into her arms (or lap). He can't be "weak". Maybe, Jayce knew she would weaken his firm resolve.... So that's why, like Ambessa, he has a hard time looking at her.

3/ "There is no force in this world that can control you"

He's also resignated and defeated because he knows that he's definitely a passenger. (And he doesn't want that for her, I suppose...). He's in pain and he knows that he's risking death (or he's already dying because of his hexcorized arm).

Feels like this line is almost a jab to Mage Viktor who, in hindsight, dictated/manipulated his whole life.... He says he's confused about a lot lately, that's the sentence of someone who discovers that his whole life was a "lie". But he also feels responsible for all the bad decisions he made and he's determined to fix it. Little does he know how much Mel and him have in common : kidnapped and tortured in alternative/future worlds, and controlled and coveted by people who needs them for what they could bring to them (Mage Viktor and the Black Rose).

Anyway, Jayce never told Mel what happened to him so the poor woman must feel so unworth and unloved, again. In reality, Jayce was protecting her and the city from an apocalypse and her mom was protecting her from the black rose.

She seems quite done but unfazed after Jayce's speech, seems like a familiar feeling to her. She's used to be cast away at this point, right ? As an empath, I'm pretty sure she's devastated but she can't be "weak" too (that's why she was exiled after all). She also knows that they are going to war, so no time for self pity.

This scene is so frustrating because I can understand why Jayce is so cold and distant, he's pained, he knows he's risking death. But at the same, he feels so OOC (which is not that stupid because it's not everyday that he had to face an apocalypse...)

I don't know, I'm just trying to make sense of this scene. But maybe I'm just reaching and it's not that deep (because season 2 is a parallel fest, so much parallels just for the sake of "parallelling"....)

Arcane Season 2 Act III Theory: Viktor was the one who manipulated Jayce into killing him (not the promise they made)

Call me insane on this one but what if the future version of Viktor was the one who influenced Jayce to kill Viktor’s past self when Jayce was (most likely) having visions of the future stuck inside of the anomaly.

Hear me out. Viktor’s arc from Act I to Act II was realizing that emotions are the sole cause of all human suffering and pleasure—therefore, machinery, which removes all emotions, is the highest form of being. Therefore, machine herald.

But the only way for the future viktor to become the machine herald was for there to be an inciting event in his past; something that drove current Viktor to that realization—something that catapulted him towards his, yes, final glorious evolution.

What better way to force that realization than to have his closest friend destroy his commune, his body, and past self’s belief that he can mitigate human suffering through his pure sterilized love?

My loose theory is that machine herald Viktor met Jayce in a distant future (my one piece of evidence for this is the fact that Jayce is wearing a leg brace and a one shoulder pauldron VERY similar to League of Legend’s Viktor design) and either manipulated him or terrorized him to the point that Jayce killed Viktor’s past self—therefore ensuring that Viktor would be reconstructed by singe, and eventually become the machine herald.

It’s a classic self-fulfilling prohecy—in the Greek legend of Oedipus, a king is told a prophecy in which his son kills him. The king then abandons his son in hopes of avoiding his fate, only to have said son kill him in the following years as an adult. In arcane’s case, Jayce is the king and Viktor is both the prophet and the son.

The sound of this otherworldly hammer is deep, vibrating through Jayce's chest. It's heavy in his over-tired arms, his muscles weak and aching still from climbing the ruins of Piltover, from sneaking his way down to the lowest depths of the undercity. His hands shake. His head pounds. Jayce feels himself pulled in too many directions, ripping at the seams.

Above him, Viktor opens his eyes—wrong color, wrong light.

Jayce can almost imagine him smiling.

And it's enough to break him.

The hammer make a shrill noise as Jayce drops it, white light dimming. It echoes in the metallic dome, ringing in Jayce ears, and he falls to his knees in despair. When will he keep all the promises he's made to Viktor?

"Jayce," Viktor says, so softly. He descends from above like an angel, a god—too beautiful for Jayce to look at anymore.

And maybe Jayce can do this another way. Maybe he can reason with Viktor, maybe he can— But then Viktor is there in front of him, a gentle hand against Jayce's cheek, and he gasps.

"So much pain," he murmurs, kneeling to Jayce's level. "You have suffered. I'm so sorry."

He is beautiful, Jayce thinks. He's always been so beautiful, but Jayce can see it now, that only part of Viktor looks at him from behind those multi-colored eyes. Something else looks too.

"I promised you," Jayce says, his voice cracking. An admission, a confession, another failure. "But I can't."

Viktor's fingers are cold against his cheek. "It was cruel to ask you," he says. He's kind enough to smile at Jayce. "It would have destroyed you, in the end, to do it."

"I'm sorry," Jayce chokes, and Viktor makes a shushing sound, leaning forward. Jayce thinks they might kiss, but instead their foreheads touch, noses brushing. Jayce closes his eyes. "I'm so sorry, Viktor."

"You do not have to be sorry," Viktor says. "You don't have to be afraid anymore, Jayce. Not when you are beside me."

A pit forms in the middle of Jayce's chest, and what little hope Jayce has disappears into it. Viktor won't be stopped, not by Jayce. He's failed and failed and failed again.

"I'm so sorry." Useless.

"You're hurting," Viktor says. He cups Jayce's face.

"If you do this," Jayce whispers. "It won't be me anymore. I'll be gone."

Viktor shakes his head. "Do not be afraid, my Jayce. You will be well."

Jayce looks at him, one last time, this beautiful man that Jayce has adored for so long. His eyes burn with tears. "I love you," he croaks. "Remember I said that, before you do this. Remember that I loved you, with my entire soul, even though I couldn't save you."

Viktor's brows come together, his face a portrait of worry, sympathy. "Shh," he coos, like Jayce is a child wailing. "It will be okay. I will be with you, Jayce. Always."

Closing his eyes, Jayce tries to smile. Viktor's hands press more firmly against his face, a purple glow, the smell of lightning. Jayce can taste the power on his tongue, the magic.

And just before he's gone, Jayce promises once more, "I love you."
